Why I'm Building a Digital Legacy at 75: It's Never too Late

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but I’ve always found that saying a bit silly. My name is Georgeta Troncos, and at 75 years young, I am officially a blogger and a digital entrepreneur. If you had told me years ago that I’d be navigating the world of Google AdSense and setting up my own website, I might have laughed along with you. But here I am, and I’ve learned that the digital world isn't just for the grandkids—it’s for anyone with a story to tell. Starting this blog, "Grandma Georgeta’s Corner," wasn't just about having a place to click around. It was about creating a space where I could share my experiences and the things I love. One of the first things I learned was how to help my visitors support my work. I decided to use the blue PayPal "Buy Now" buttons because they are simple, clear, and reliable. To me, that blue button represents more than just a transaction; it represents the modern way of connecting a creator with a community. However, building a website at 75 comes with its own set of "adventures." I’ve spent many afternoons staring at my screen, trying to figure out why a layout won't budge or why a link isn't working. I’ve submitted my site to AdSense 19 times now! Every time I get that "not ready" email, I have two choices: I can get frustrated, or I can treat it like a puzzle. I choose the puzzle. The "Low Value Content" message I keep receiving from the automated systems is actually a great reminder. It tells me that I need to share more of me. People don’t just come to the internet for a "Buy Now" button; they come for the person behind the button. They want to know about the wisdom 75 years of life brings. They want to know about the mistakes I’ve made, the recipes I’ve perfected, and the resilience it takes to keep clicking "Submit" for the 20th time. My goal for this blog is to show other seniors—and perhaps some younger folks who feel stuck—that the finish line is wherever you decide to draw it. Technology can be intimidating, sure. The terms can be confusing, and the "robots" can be picky. But at the end of the day, a blog is just a modern-day porch where we can sit down and have a chat. As I move forward, I plan to fill these pages with more stories. Whether it’s advice on staying sharp, reflections on how the world has changed since I was a girl, or tips on the items I’ve curated for my shop, I want every word to provide value to you, the reader. Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Whether you're here to read a story or to support me through one of those blue buttons, I’m just glad you’re here.
